I'm in the market for a cheap car and a neighbor's got a 99 lincoln continental with 150K miles on it. Do you think it will be reliable?

I love my 99 with 80k in it. Drives smooth, and love the 275hp v8. Im also averaging around 20mpg in the city and I'm only 18, so I am not where near a smooth driver.

I bought one with 172,000 miles and at 178,000 the engine went out. Mechanic said thats about the average that engine will do. I put an engine with 80,000 miles in it and it is still the most undependable thing I own.

You'll be lucky if you drive it off the lot before something falls off.

Not sure, great car but I bought mine with 69k on it and so much is wrong with it, I cant put the 2 left side windows down nore lock my car, guess water got in the outside number pad?? Somehow the left spring is all messed up and turned to its side?? The button to push to open gas cap broke off VERY easily (gotta stick a pen in it to open), and the information screen that tells you the miles and everything seems to go crazy after a little bit of driving. Im not even done yet.... the winsheild fluid has never shot onto the windsheild since I bought it, now it always says that Im low on washer fluid and never goes away, when I hit reset it comes back in 2 mins and I can never see how much gas I have, and the fluid is full by the way. So yeah those are the problems I had with my car, and its !@ me off

I own a 1999 Continental with 148,000 miles. It runs great. The only repair it has needed was a fuel pump at 135,000 miles. If you don't pay too much for it and have a mechanic check it, then a used Continental can be an excellent buy. I also owned a 1997 one too and it was also very good

I have a 99 Lincoln Continental. I love my car, it's beautiful. It has been very reliable for the most part and I love the ride and the engine ... runs great. I had to put in a new transmission at around 55,000 which seems a little too soon. This year at about 70,000 miles I put in a new rack and pinion because the system was leaking ... power steering fluid. Driver's seat motor stopped working about 2 years ago, replaced that. Front right boot went bad about 2 years ago and replaced that. This year my rear air suspension (air bags) began leaking .... so I put on a conversion kit ... which I'm not happy with ... wish I had paid the $2500 + to replace the ride suspension system. I've done all the work ... anyone want a great car for $5500?
